BE THANKFUL
Be thankful to the God who created you, To the Mother who bore you and The Father who raised you, To the race that claimed you and The family that called you its own.
Be thankful for each hopeful sunrise, Each burning sunset and For all of the hours in between, Whose meager passage matters naught In the final counting of one’s days.
Be thankful for the eagle’s graceful glide And the mountains that scrape the heavens, For the crashing seas and still pools That linger in the mind like A gentle swirling mist aborning.
Be thankful for the kiss of rain upon your face, For every sweet breath you take, For the gentlest touch, for each baby’s cry That swells the heart to bursting And begs the stoutest heart to sing.
And in your gladness, open your arms To the sick and dying, To the lonely and frail of spirit, To the poor and downtrodden And make them your own.
Rejoice in your life and in The lives of those you love and touch, Raise your smile and arms to Heaven And be thankful this day, This day of Thanksgiving.
For God has given you a chance, A chance to make a difference. Go forth and make this world a better place, And every day, remember to pray, To love, to sing, and to be thankful.
