MASK OF THE MANTIS
Who are you, great deceiver? A devil clothed in snowy white, A charlatan, thief or brigand, Or a brave and powerful knight?
You dress yourself in purple raiment And smile at us so convincingly, While articles proclaim your fame For world history candidly.
How can I trust your words again, Placing faith in all that you say? Others cry out for vengeance Shall I hear them at all, I pray?
You wear a shell all around you Impenetrable as cold steel, Mask of the mantis, deadly as he Who awaits his very next meal.
